A veteran of the Santa Barbara Channel for nearly six decades, Platform Holly entered the inaugural Regatta as the sentimental favorite. She was formally decommissioned in 2023 and did not complete Leg 1. Race officials have noted that her non-movement was, in technical terms, indistinguishable from the other competitors. The distinction, they clarify, is administrative.
