Official Biography
Platform Gail operates in the Santa Clara Unit, separate from the Sable Santa Ynez platforms that were taken offline by the 2015 Refugio spill. While Harmony, Heritage, and Hondo spent a decade in regulatory limbo, Gail continued producing at her established rate. She enters the post-restart phase of the race as the competitor who simply kept showing up. Her top-recorded speed of 0.014 knots is, to be clear, still extremely slow.
Race Committee Notes
Gail's sponsorship deal with a local wind energy company fell through in pre-race negotiations. Both parties declined to comment.
